Dear Editor,

There were many things said at the Morgan Hill Unified School District Board of Education meeting on June 27. I would like to address two of them.

n A comment was made by a board member that the employee groups cannot expect to make the same salary as the superintendent.

n Another board member said he had no problem with Superintendent Alan Nishino’s salary as heads of companies made large salaries.

My response to this is of course we don’t expect to make the same salary as Nishino. And yes, heads of companies do make large salaries.

The problem is his salary is out of proportion to the rest of the employees. We have one of the highest paid superintendents in Santa Clara County and the lowest paid teaching and classified staff!

Bottom line, Nishino’s salary is disproportionate to the rest of the employees in the district.

That is what needs to be corrected and hopefully will be when we negotiate our contracts in the near future.
