I killed my dog July 4. Actually I allowed you to kill my dog.
You, the irresponsible user of illegal fireworks. It hurts more than you can imagine to feel responsible for killing Sydney, the family dog who loved everyone, the dog who greeted everyone with adoring squeaks, who got excited seeing me put on my jogging shoes for our morning run together, who chased airplanes and squirrels, who watched over everyone in the pool and tried to bite water splashes, the dog who loved the cat and was afraid of the pet rat.
Yes, I left Sydney in the backyard on the 4th of July and spent the day with my family at the beach. But you scared her to death with your lousy firecrackers. She freaked out by the noise of your firecrackers, jumped the fence and ran in fear right into the path of a train. You killed her.
Before you light another firecracker, think of Sydney, the loving, happy Border Collie who lost her life because you failed to consider others when you lit that illegal firework on July 4, 2004.
