San Jose – A fire near Coyote Creek Golf Club Monday threatened to scorch more than the approximately 61 acres that burned, but fire crews brought the blaze under control in less than two hours.
No one was injured during the incident.
Crews from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection – South County area and the San Jose Fire Department responded to the call just before 5pm Monday.
Seven CDF engines and two water tankers were on scene, along with a helicopter and two bulldozers.
The cause of the blaze is “under investigation,” according to CDF Capt. Jim Crawford.
There were no structures threatened by the fire, but the dry grass and brush ignited quickly, spreading fast while crews worked to contain it. The area that burned is actually in San Jose, Crawford said, but very close to Morgan Hill.
