Dear Editor,
I am writing to thank you for the great story in Saturday’s paper about our Future Farmers of America students at the Santa Clara County Fair. Live Oak and Sobrato students have worked hard in taking care of the farm animals that are taken to the Fair and there have been many awards earned by both schools.
The FFA program is incredible. FFA helps students develop their leadership skills by participating in public speaking, skill contests, chapter meetings, award and recognition programs, committees and community projects. Moreover, FFA also motivates young people to make positive contributions to their schools, homes, communities and ultimately, their country. It makes a positive difference in the lives of these students. It teaches life skills that can be used in any circumstance. It is encouraging to see the enthusiasm and interest these kids have and as a parent a very rewarding experience seeing the growth in my daughter. We are thankful that the district and community continue to support this invaluable program.
Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve – the FFA motto.
