Live Oak High School Future Business Leaders of America members competed during the recent annual California State Leadership Conference in Irvine.
Kerstin Bowen placed 10th in word processing II, which was composed of a hands-on test and written exam. Andrew Wisneski placed 9th in international business, a written exam that tests students’ knowledge of world traditions and manners as well as doing business abroad. Michele Dragoescu took 9th place in FBLA principles and procedures, the history and protocol of FBLA. Elaine Liu and Tiffany Shyuan garnered 7th in the team event of desktop publishing. Tiffany Shyuan placed 7th in public speaking II, and Simmi Dhillon took 7th in job interview. The team of Minna Chan and Simmi Dhillon placed third in the community service project detailing the effort put into the local Showtime for Safety Fair in Morgan Hill. The Local Chapter Annual Business Report, a report similar to a corporate annual report, of the Live Oak chapter throughout the year, written and edited by Elaine Liu and Tiffany Shyuan placed second. The report will be placed in national competition.
Liu and Shyuan each won $1,000 FBLA scholarships. They captured two out the six which were given after the final interview.
