HISTORY: Morgan Hill resident Doug Kalpakoff, also known as Morgan Hill’s Dr. Cell Phone, Mr. Fix-it, and the Wireless Guru, opened this business Aug. 1.
Kalpakoff has managed a cell phone business in Morgan Hill for the past 11 years. Recently, however, he decided to open up a new Morgan Hill store, Extreme Wireless, in Tennant Station.
PHILOSOPHY: Extreme service for customers. The company strives to be service-oriented. Its motto is “extreme service at extreme wireless.” The owner stresses to customers that business is personal and not like services offered by big-box stores where customers’ questions and complaints are seen as nuisance.
SERVICES: The company specializes in cell phone service, two-way radios, hand-held navigation systems, and satellite TV systems. It also offers Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, Amp’d Mobile, Helio, Metro PCS, satellite TV from dish, satellite radio with Sirius and GPS Navigation Systems.
“We get all kinds of stories,” says Kalpakoff, “We hear everything from ‘my cell phone got run over,’ to ‘I buried my phone in my front yard when I was putting in a new lawn.’ It’s just another day in Morgan Hill.” He adds: “We’re happy to help anyone dealing with wireless challenges. Whether the issue is simple like installing a new phone battery or more challenging like analyzing multi-line bills to help the customer save some money. Every customer gets the specialized service they need,” Kalpakoff says.
HOURS: Monday through Saturday, 10am – 7pm. A second store in Carmel is located in the Barnyard Shopping Center near Highway One and Carmel Valley Road.
