Student to Perform with ACDA Honor Choir

Morgan Hill resident Lacey Kral, a junior at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, has been selected by competitive audition to perform with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Honor Choir at Stanford University on Nov. 18.

Kral will be performing with the honor choir for her second year and is looking forward to returning.

“It was really fun last year singing at the halls at Stanford. The buildings are acoustically amazing,” she said.

Several audition criteria were used by the ACDA adjudicators, including sight-singing, intonation, diction, memorization and stage presence.

A total of eight Monte Vista students will sing with the honor choir. They all are enrolled in vocal arts classes at Monte Vista, which offers three levels of choir plus music theory and vocal technique courses, taught by David Anthony Dehner.

“Lacey is an outstanding vocalist,” said Dehner, director of fine arts at Monte Vista. “Her commitment to excellence has a positive impact on all aspects of her life. It’s wonderful to see her recognized this way.”
