Evelyn Elaine Wenrick Garcia of Hollister passed away after a long illness at the age of 61. She was born and raised in Hollister. “Evie” as she was known to most of us, loved knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and board games. She was Jeopardy’s most loyal fan and would stay up late to watch old movies. But, most of all, Evie loved children. Evie’s kindness and unconditional love was undeniable. She was not only a mother, grandmother and babysitter, but a mentor, counselor and a dear friend. Evie’s special love fostered countless kids who needed her, just as much as she wanted and needed them. She was a loving and inspirational human being to all who were fortunate to have met her.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, Donald Charles Wenrick, her mother, Mary Isabelle Wenrick and her brother Daniel (Danny) Wenrick. Evie was stepmother to Lorraine, Raymond and Jesse Garcia Jr., loving grandmother to Elaine Garcia and Hugo Lopez and great-grandmother to Ivan, Alyssa, Logan and Jesse Garcia III. Evie is also survived by her sister, Diane and husband, Ron Swank, and family, of Watsonville, CA, her sister-in-law, Barbara (Bobbie) Wenrick and family of Duarte, CA and nephews, aunts and cousins of California.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister.
