With the last weeks of school and graduation approaching, Live Oak students, especially seniors, can’t seem to stop talking about the last day of school and beginning of summer. Although this may be the case, I know that many of us are still very excited about the year’s last events at Live Oak. Many of the upcoming events are things that I’ve been looking forward to doing in my senior year, others are things that all grads, even alumni, can participate in.
The most recent senior event that just passed was the Senior Ball. This past Saturday the senior class took over the beautiful Club Del Monte in Monterey and had one last chance to dance the night away with all their friends.
As a senior it’s hard to believe that it’s all over and I will never attend another high school dance. I hope that the rest of the class of 2005 also had a wonderful night with their friends and appreciated all the hard work that went into it. Some other senior events to look out for are: senior awards night on May 24, Disneyland trip on June 8 and of course graduation and grad night on June 10.
It’s not only the seniors that get to have all the fun though. The rest of the school year is going to be just as exciting for everyone else. This Thursday, Donna Foster and her sewing and fashion classes will be putting on a fashion show to model their ensembles they’ve sewn throughout the year. The “Rock and Roll Forever” themed show will be held in Live Oak’s Little Theater. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm, so show up early to buy your tickets. Adult tickets cost $7 and children’s tickets are $5.
The end-of-the-year fun doesn’t even stop there! This year is Live Oak High School’s centennial. Live Oak will be celebrating this event on campus, Sunday, Aug. 21. This day is for Live Oak students and all alumni of Live Oak. It will be a day full of music, food, and reunions. Tickets will cost $35 and the proceeds will benefit the Live Oak Centennial Scholarship Fund. More information is soon to come. If you have any questions regarding the event, contact Bonnie Cherry at 201-6100.
These are just a few of the activities currently going on at Live Oak, and although it’s all very exciting, all of the students have been reminded that the school year still isn’t over just yet and that they still need to work their hardest during these last few weeks. I know that the ASB class and officers are all working their hardest to make the end of our school year one to remember and I also think that they’ve done a very good job of keeping school spirit high throughout the whole school year. So, I know that everyone will keep up the hard work, and I hope that everyone can make it to at least one of the many activities coming up these coming months at Live Oak High School.
