The Registrar of Voters is looking for volunteers to serve at the polls on Election Day.

Election officers, who are paid a stipend of $85 or more, are needed for the June 6 gubernatorial primary election at polling places in Morgan Hill and Gilroy.

“I volunteer because it is work that needs to be done. I like to pay back the community I enjoy as a citizen,” said Morgan Hill resident Pi Silverstein, who has been an election officer for 26 years.

Election officer duties include setting up the polling place, processing voters and providing assistance as requested. In addition to serving a full day at the polls – usually from 6am to 9:30pm – they must also attend a three-hour training class.

Anyone who is registered to vote in California can be an election officer. To sign up, call (408) 299-POLL [7655]
