Domingo “Americano” Garza Cardona died July 5, 2003, in Gilroy.
Mr. Cardona retired from Gilroy Foods after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Velia Padilla Cardona; children Arthur Vargas Jr. and wife Mary of Sacramento, Frank P. Vargas of Gilroy, Erlinda Vargas of Sacramento, Daniel P. Vargas and wife Chris of Sacramento, Jennie Velasquez of Sacramento, Stella P. Gaucin of Hollister and Dolores P. Garcia and husband Benny of Hollister; grandchildren Arthur, June, Katrina, Frankie Jr., Jesse, Teresa, Robert, Lisa, Nicole, Juanita, Alfred Jr., David, John, Michael and Michelle; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
He also will be missed by Shorty.
Vigil Service will be at 6:30 tonight, July 8, at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Services begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Services will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church for Mass. Entombment will be at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
