Final race to be held Sept. 12 at Henry Coe
SAN JOSE — Three Morgan Hill runners will have savored victory for more than a month when the Dirty Legs Summer Trail Series resumes with its third and final race Sept. 12.
Jason Reed, Jorn Jensen and Leslie Sokol won top honors in their respective categories at the last event held recently at Mockingbird Hill. Reed covered the 10K race in 50 minutes, four seconds to win the men’s title, and Jensen and Sokol made it a Morgan Hill sweep in the 5K with first-place times of 20:55 and 30:29.
Those three also were the fastest runners in their age groups and earned points toward end-of-series awards.
Several other locals won division titles in the 5K. Kim Sorenson placed first in 40-49 women’s in 33:19, Rajiv Parikh (45:28) was tops in 20-29 men’s, and Alex Sokol (23:32) and Trinity Richards (49:09) set the pace in the 15-and-under field. Christopher Ramirez (49:08) of Morgan Hill was the lone entry in the 16-19 men’s category.
Also among locals, Emily Sorenson (49:10) crossed second in the 15-and-under women’s 5K, and Julianne Whitelaw (2:31:12) took silver in the 30-39 women’s 21K.
Presented by South Valley Endurance, the series finale is scheduled to be held at Henry Coe State Park beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Dirty Legs Fall Series will begin Oct. 17 at Rancho Canada Del Oro.
