Six-race South Valley Endurance Spring Trail Run Series picks up
April 11 in San Martin
SANTA CRUZ — The weather held up and created a nice coastal setting Sunday at Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz for a sold-out second event in the South Valley Endurance Dirty Legs Spring Trail Run Series.
Guy Kerr of Morgan Hill covered the scenic flat course in 42 minutes, 10 seconds to win the 10K race. He was followed by Joe Morris, another Morgan Hill runner, who took second in 44:41.
A pair of San Martin residents finished in the top 10 in the 20K. Chris Schilling crossed in 1:57:25 to place seventh, and Luanne Gircalone placed eighth in 2:06:25. Catherine Levine of Morgan Hill was 10th (2:12:01).
Santa Cruz’s Daniel McKinnon won the 20K in 1:31:31, and Stephen Boesch of Mountain View took first (19:10) in the 5K race.
Event 3 in the six-race series is scheduled to take place April 11 at Harvey Bear County Park in San Martin. That one will feature a mile and 1K race for kids.
Each event is open to all levels of runners.
