Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill Leadership Class of 2005 is inviting all local artists to help beautify downtown by capturing images of life in Morgan Hill on recycling receptacles in the area.

Local artists will demonstrate their talents by displaying lifestyle scenes of Morgan Hill. Artists will help to convert recycling receptacles into art pieces and help promote tourism in our town, as well as beautifying the downtown area.

Though many residents are conscientious about recycling at home, it is not the case when they are out and about in their communities, leaving many recycling containers unused. The problem has become so bad that some cities such as Los Gatos, Sunnyvale and Campbell have abandoned their recycling efforts.

Participating artists will have permanent recognition for their contribution as their name and contact info will be prominently displayed. The Mayor of Morgan Hill, Dennis Kennedy will personally and publicly recognize each artist during the unveiling of the project.

The leadership group is looking for local artists to submit sketches for the 15 recycling containers downtown with a theme of depicting the beauty of Morgan Hill through family-style scenes.

To better illustrate the theme, leadership has the following scene ideas:

  1. Children playing with water at our new Aquatic Center

  2. Henry Coe – Hikers walking through a beautiful meadow of flowers

  3. Coyote Trail – A family horseback riding

  4. Wineries – Picture of people picking grapes at Guiglielmo Winery

  5. Villa Monte – Morgan Hill House, a historical scene that we will ask the Historical Society to help us with.

  6. Anderson Reservoir – boating

  7. Community Park – Scene of children feeding the ducks with El Toro Hill in the background

  8. Lake Anderson – Father and son fishing

  9. Train Depot – a Historical scene

  10. Farmland – fruit trees and horses and in the background houses on the hills

  11. A morning at the Farmer’s Market

  12. Evening at the Friday Night Series

Sketches of ideas are due by June 30 and should be mailed to Class of 2005 Recycle Project c/o Leadership Morgan Hill, PO Box 1316, Morgan Hill CA 95038.
