Live Oak tops Sobrato badminton; Acorns improve to 10-2
Morgan Hill – A crowd of parents, friends and teachers came out last Thursday to watch the Live Oak Acorns and Sobrato Bulldogs badminton teams face off. The more experienced Acorns defeated the Bulldogs, 13-2.
“The kids were looking forward to this match because they have friends, brothers and sisters who attend Sobrato,” said Live Oak coach Linda Seals. “It was a really fun match and we actually had a crowd. I hadn’t seen the Sobrato gym before. The kids thought it was a beautiful campus.”
The Acorns dominated the match, beating the Bulldogs by the same margin they defeated them earlier in the season.
“They’re (Sobrato) an inexperienced program and a young team,” said Seals. “The match went as we expected.”
“They’re (Sobrato) an up and coming program, with all their sports,” added Seals.
The win improves the Acorns’ record to 10-2 in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. Live Oak is tied for second place with Pioneer behind first place and undefeated Leigh.
The Acorns take on the Gilroy Mustangs on Tuesday at home at 3:30pm. The Bulldogs next face Prospect in San Jose on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
