Cool brews will be on tap to benefit the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center during the third annual Cool Brews for Cool Pools Brew Fest on Saturday.
Organizer Geno Acevedo, president and brewmaster of El Toro Brewing Co., expects record numbers at the Community and Cultural Center for the festival. Attendance more than doubled from the first and second years and he says with more publicity, the numbers should grow even more.
“We are expecting not less than 2,000 people though out the day,” Acevedo said. “The crowds should get up to about 5,000.”
The festival will last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is free to the public. There will be plenty of food and guests may sample the beer and wine with a $15 purchase of a beer and wine tasting kit.
Cool Brews is a family-friendly festival, with a giant slide, a bounce house and the community center’s water fountain for the kids.
Besides the food and drinks, adults can enjoy live music from The Usual Suspects, Los High Tops and JJ Hawg.
JJ Hawg will lead off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Usual Suspects will follow from 1:30 – 4 p.m. Wrapping up the day will be Los High Tops from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
Acevedo has lined up six standup comedians to entertain in between band sets. Three will play in the morning and three in the afternoon.
The festival will feature brews from 20 different breweries from around California as well as four local wineries.
Proceeds from the festival, through the Morgan Hill Aquatics Foundation, will go toward keeping the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center open once the city closes it down for the season, expected in early September.
“We hope to have enough in the bank to keep the center open,” Acevedo said.
Details: 778-2739. Cool Brews for Cool Pools will be held outdoors at the Community and Cultural Center on Monterey Road and Dunne Avenue.
