Merriman Family Sues Driver, Company in Death of Son
Gilroy – The family of Gilroy resident Sean Merriman filed suit Monday against the truck driver who slammed into a Caltrans truck on April 4, killing their son. The lawsuit alleges that Louis Estrada Vasquez, an employee of Ponzini Community Garage, Inc. in Morgan Hill, was negligent while driving a tow truck on U.S. 101, causing Merriman's death. The tow company also was named as a defendant in the suit.
Classified Employees Want Same Raise as Teachers
Morgan Hill – While the Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers may be pleased with a salary agreement negotiated with the Morgan Hill Unified School District, the Service Employees International Union is far from pleased with the result of its negotiations with district officials.

A Sept. 12 front-page story about two South County residents killed by Union Pacific freight trains should have stated that there is no annual average number of deaths on the Caltrain rail system as there is no way of knowing how may people will be killed. There have been 11 deaths on the Caltrain rail system this year, 10 of those on tracks owned by Caltrain.

Morgan Hill – Police are looking for a suspect in the burglary of a local gas station, but they found and arrested Tuesday night two suspects in a rash of auto burglaries.
