Sobrato senior takes first in speech contest
For the second straight year, Chinedu Okafor, a senior at Sobrato High School, won the Morgan Hill Lions Club Student Speaker Contest and a prize of $75. The 75th annual contest was held in the at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural and Center Feb. 15. Runners up were Marcus Pereira, a senior at Sobrato and Ben Hagiperos, a Sobrato freshman, who each won $25. This year's topic was "What Could the America of Yesterday Teach the America of Tomorrow?" Chinedu will now go on to the Zone Contest to be held at 5 p.m. March 5 at the San Martin Lions Club.
