Dear Editor, I wish I could stand on a rooftop and shout to the
rest of the churches what our little country church is doing in San
Martin! Published invitation-
“Any candidate wishing support from members of Church of The
Valley (COTV) need only introduce him/herself to an usher at any
10am Sunday worship service.
Dear Editor,
I wish I could stand on a rooftop and shout to the rest of the churches what our little country church is doing in San Martin!
Published invitation- “Any candidate wishing support from members of Church of The Valley (COTV) need only introduce him/herself to an usher at any 10am Sunday worship service. At the close of the service they will be invited forward to introduce themselves and ask for support.”
From time to time, COTV will invite competing candidates to take their place on our platform and debate their opponents before our congregation (and their friends!). The DVD of the event will be offered to the various appropriate media. Local cable stations usually play them three to four times! Absent candidates are represented by a name tag and an empty chair.
At the close of our services, I am invited to update the congregation and then dismiss them with the Aaronic Benediction.
COTV is respectful that there are different opinions and never endorses a candidate.
However, the congregation is much better informed than most. I checked the church roster against the Registrar of Voters database and only a very few eligible members are not registered to vote.
