Join the growing group of parents and future parents of Sobrato High athletes at the Athletic Boosters’ Open House, which includes a raffle and bake sale fundraiser with pizza, from 5:30-7pm on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The open house begins at 7pm. Raffle items include: 49ers players autographed football; golf and cart at Ridgemark Golf course; eight tickets to Sabercats; two tickets to Bonfante Gardens; gift certificates for a Martial Arts class; two Sharks tickets; and more. Also, Sobrato Athletic Boosters receive 10 percent of all sales of Sobrato Sweatshirts, Polo shirts, T-shirts, Hats, Jackets, and Stadium seats at www.inabina.com/ Regular meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month, with the next boosters meeting scheduled for Sept. 21 at 7pm in the Adminstration office.

Makos kick off season

The Morgan Hill Makos swim team will begin its 43rd straight year of representing the Morgan Hill community in USA Swimming on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Tryouts for the team are open to anyone aged 6-18 and are held at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center every Monday through Friday at 5:30pm. The Morgan Hill aquatics center staff will be on hand during tryouts on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Sept. 13-15 from 5-6pm. They will answer questions, accept enrollments in the lessons and learn to swim programs scheduled at the aquatics center, and answer questions about fall programs offered at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center. The Morgan Hill masters swim program is open to anyone aged 19 and up. Swim sessions are held Monday through Friday at the aquatic center starting at 5am. The cost is $45 per month, or $5 per swim.

SSJYSL Tornadoes

The South San Jose Youth Soccer League’s U13 Tornadoes girls soccer team won one of its three matches at the Santa Rosa Tournament late last month. In the tourney opener, the Tornadoes downed the Revolution 3-2 as Taylor Johnson finished off a pass from teammate Lexi MacPhail for the game-winning goal late in the second half. Bella Comin and JC Clayton also scored for the local team. The Tornadoes also lost 3-0 to the South County Alliance and 4-1 to the Santa Rosa United despite a goal by MacPhail.

T-ball registration

Mt. Madonna YMCA in Morgan Hill has announced T-Ball registration for children aged 2-8 has begun. Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 10. T-ball season begins Sept. 25 and runs through Nov. 13. Games are played at the Community Park on Edmundson. The fee for YMCA members is from $45-$75 for the season per child. Registration for T-ball may be made by telephone at 779-0208 or in person at Mt. Madonna YMCA, 17666 Crest Ave.

LO boosters golf tourney

For the second year, the Live Oak High Athletic Booster Club is hosting a fundraiser golf tournament. This year’s event, which goes to the LOHS sports programs, will be held Sept. 18 at Coyote Creek Golf Course. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch from noon to 12:45 p.m., and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The tourney will include a scramble format and is limited to 144 golfers. There will be a no-host reception at 6 p.m. after the tourney and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $195 per person, which includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. Dinner only is $40. The tourney is also still in need of sponsors.

SCBA signups

The SCBA Fall Basketball program begins on Sept. 11. The leagues run until Nov. 6. The fee for a new player is currently $95 and for a returning player is $75. There is a $10 deduction for each additional family member. This Saturday-only program is held on the Britton Middle School campus. Applications are available at www.scbabasketball.org

Speedo Cup to begin

The first Speedo Cup practice will be Thursday, Sept. 9 from 7-8:30pm at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center. The cost of the program is $75 with a $25 discount available to siblings. The program will run through the first week of November. Speedo Cup is a fall water polo program for athletes not in high school and aged 14 or younger.

MH Aquatics Center swim programs

This fall, the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center will hold afternoon swim lessons Monday-Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Each session includes eight lessons. Fees are $54 for residents and $64 for non-residents. Recreation swimming will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 4-7pm, and Saturdays and Sundays noon-6pm. Lap swimming will be offered Monday-Friday 5:30-9:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm and 4-7:30pm, and on Saturday and Sunday 7-10am. There will also be Water Aerobics classes offered,
