Calling all baseball alumni

All former Live Oak High baseball players are invited to sign up to play in the annual Alumni baseball game against the current Acorn varsity on April 10. The 2004 game will be held at Sarich Field as a fundraiser for the high school program. The game will be preceded by an exhibition game between the Live Oak JV and freshman squads. There will be food, snacks and fresh air guaranteed. T-shirts will be available. Donations are welcome. 21st annual wildflower run

The American Association of University Women-Morgan Hill will sponsor its 21st annual 10K Wildflower Run (plus a 5K run/walk and a 2K run for kids 12 and under) on Sunday, March 28, at Live Oak High School, 1505 East Main Ave. Check-in and day registration begin at 7:30 a.m. Start times: the 2K (for 12 and under only) begins at 8:30 a.m.; the 10K USATF Certified/Sanctioned course at 9 a.m. and the 5K run/fun walk will start at 9:10 a.m. The entire course is flat terrain on paved roads in the country around Morgan Hill. Fees are $22 if received before March 20, $25 afterwards. Family rate is $50 (3 or more in immediate family). T-shirts, medals and prizes and extras are part of the festivities. lohs boosters club seeks candidates

The LOHS Athletic Boosters Club is seeking candidates for the Board of Directors for the 2004-2005 school year. Elections will take place at Live Oak High School, 1505 E. Main Ave., on Tuesday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in the library. Elected positions to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The elected Executive Board will appoint five additional directors to standing committees. Candidates for positions must be Members-in-good-standing in the club. Each director shall serve a term of one year. Any person interested in running for office this year should submit their name to any member of the club or club president Pam Mom by March 9 for inclusion on the ballot. The purpose of the Booster Club is to acquire funds through multiple means as necessary and useful for the improvement of Live Oak High School Boys and Girls athletic programs and facilities. Persons interested in joining the club as members, officers or directors are invited and urged to attend monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. pony baseball opening day

The Morgan Hill Pony baseball league is holding its opening day on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Britton Middle School back fields, 80 W. Central Ave. The day includes the Morgan Hill Mayor throwing out the first pitch, player and team introductions and the first game. Details: 656-2459.

MH Spirt results: Junior Division

Asteroids 10, Starlets 7: A beautiful opening day for the Junior Division started with Melissa Sigona walking and stealing two bases and scoring the first run of the season on a sacrifice by Gail Wiselogel for the Asteroids. The Starlets tied the game at 5-5 in the second inning, but the Asteroids scored four runs on hits by Madi Aguilar, Kirsten Doting, Courtney Clampett, Amanda Morgan and Heather Merritt to take a 9-5 lead. Katie Machado sturck out three in the final inning to preserve the victory.

Moonbeams 13, Meteors 11: The game started off with Anna Parker’s great eye getting her on first base, followed by a base hit by Brittney Lomanto and an RBI base hit by Savannah Sanchez to score the Meteors their first run. The Moonbeams came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Meteors answered with a run in the second inning when Kaeli Johnson scored on Brianne Howell’s RBI hit. Megan Rauschnot added a two-run double, Claire Parker had an RBI and Allie Stoner had a two-run homer for the Meteors.
