Hill Pride 10U Gold team took fourth place overall at the
Strawberry Jam tournament in Watsonville. The local squad got off
to a great start on Saturday, winning all three of its games. In
Game 1, the Pride downed the Mountain Dream from San Lorenzo Valley
7-3, then beat the Pajaro Tremblers 6-1 in Game 2. In Game 3, the
Pride routed the Mountain View Nova 15-6. On Sunday, the Pride lost
a close one to the Gilroy Chaos 4-2, dropping the local squad into
the third-place game.

Last weekend, the Morgan Hill Pride 10U Gold team took fourth place overall at the Strawberry Jam tournament in Watsonville.
The local squad got off to a great start on Saturday, winning all three of its games.

Going up against the Campbell Crush, the Pride was locked in a scoreless tie through the first five innings and had to finish the game using an international tiebreaker, falling by a final score of 2-1.
Top hitters included Shannon Gise, who had four singles and a triple, Kirsten Doting, who had four singles, Amber Moore, who had four singles and a double, Courtney Clampett, who had four singles, and Mikayla Bejarano, who had three singles and two doubles.

Gilroy’s Caparusso earns July Ace honors for Gavilan Niners
The Gavilan Niners held their July Ace Day on July 28 at the Gavilan Golf Course. Ace was Birgit Caparusso, Gilroy, net 27. She also had low putts with 14.
First in the second flight was Opal Imprescia, Gilroy, net 33. Second was Janet Roach, Watsonville, net 35. Joy Chalmers, Morgan Hill, had a chip-in.
Short Course winners on July 8 at Blackberry were Opal Imprescia, with the overall net, and Marlene Sherwin, Morgan Hill, was first in her flight.
The Gavilan Niners play each Thursday morning at the Gavilan Golf Course in Gilroy. Tee time is 8:30am.

Live Oak sports camps
Organized by Norm Dow and taught by high school coaches and teachers, the annual Live Oak Sports Camps are continuing through the summer and still have openings. They include instruction in a variety of sports.
There is still plenty of room in most of the week-long camps, which range in cost from $90-$150. Signups are being accepted at the Live Oak gym.

Sobrato sports camps
Many outstanding coaches from Sobrato High will provide instruction in the necessary fundamentals and skills at the Sobrato High Athletics Camps through Aug. 12 this summer. The sports camps are designed for kids aged 6-17, and costs range from $75-$140. Signups are being accepted now.

YMCA Camps signups
Mt. Madonna YMCA in Morgan Hill is now accepting registration for camps which take place at the Morgan Hill YMCA, 17666 Crest Ave.
Half-day sports camps are for 3-5 year olds and continue through Aug. 19. The cost is $133/week.
Full day sports camps include: a basketball camp from Aug. 1-5 ($223/week); Y-World of Sports from Aug. 15-19 ($223/week); and golf camp from July 25-29 and Aug. 8-12 ($350/week).
These camps are only for those entering grades 1-3 or 4-6.

San Jose State offers basketball camps
The coaching staff of San Jose States University’s Men’s Basketball Program will be holding a four-day camp this summer.
The session runs from August 8-11 (Monday-Thursday).
The camp also will offer early drop off starting at 7:45am and late pick-up until 5:30pm at no additional cost.
Please note that camp runs from 9am-4pm. The cost of the camp is $155 for early bird registration and $170 for late registration.
Camp staff will include the SJSU men’s basketball coaching staff, players, as well as other area coaches.
The camp emphasis will be on fun as well as basketball fundamentals, skill enhancement, and team building.
