MH Pony Baseball sponsors Sunday preseason workouts

It’s that time of year again. Baseball (in Morgan Hill and in the pros) is just around the corner. To get ready for the rapidly approaching 2005 season, MH Pony Baseball will be hosting a series of preseason workout sessions on Sundays from 10am to noon at Live Oak High’s baseball field. There will be sessions for all Pinto through Pony Division players. Budding high school players are also invited.

The workouts will involve light conditioning and throwing. All workouts will be supervised by select coaches and former local high school and college players. All sessions are free and will be held rain or shine.

Players should wear baseball attire and sneakers and carry their baseball shoes and equipment.

Those parents interested in coaching or managing a team in MHPB this year are encouraged to attend these sessions also. League representatives will be going over how to conduct practices and what drills coaches should be teaching at each age level.

MHPB Player Evaluations will be held on Feb. 5, and preseason team practices will begin around Feb. 19. For more information, contact John Bennett evenings at 776-0983.

MHPB is also holding signups for the 2005 season. Just bring a certified copy of a prospective player’s birth certificate or other proof of birth date to Mountain Mike’s Pizza, located in Morgan Hill (Tennant Station and Monterey Road) on Saturday, Jan. 15, from noon until 2pm, complete the standard league registration form, and pay the fees. A late registration will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 7:30-8:30pm.

In addition, volunteer parents are needed to staff virtually every aspect of league operations.

There is a need for parent volunteers to maintain fields, and help behind the scenes in a myriad of special functions that are overseen by the very active MHPB Booster organization.

Parent volunteers will be on hand at registration on Jan. 15 at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, to answer any questions about the program.
