Tennis for all ages now offered at Gavilan A series of tennis
classes for various ages begin this month at Gavilan College.
Beginning tennis classes for players aged 16 to adult. Learn the
basics with an emphasis on rally and eventually match play with
scoring. The goal is to advance from beginning tennis to friendly
competition. Classes will be held Saturdays, March 19 through April
2 from 10am to noon on the campus tennis courts. Cost is $59 per

This class incorporates fun competition while getting a great workout and burning calories. The class is designated to get adults and families to participate in something active.

Beginning and Intermediate tennis classes for seniors, aged 50-plus.

It is never too late to learn tennis the right way. This class will review the basics and rekindle the love of the game.

All participants get a cardiovascular workout while having fun.

Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, March 14-30 from 9am-10am on the campus tennis courts. Cost is $42 per player.

SCBA to hold coaching clinic Saturday, still adding players

The SCBA coaching clinic will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 8am.

In addition, the SCBA spring basketball program is still accepting players.

The Saturday-only league, housed at Britton Middle School, offers separate leagues for both boys and girls, grades 1-12.

LO baseball program to hold golf tourney fundraiser March 25

Looking to raise money for the 2005 season, the Live Oak High baseball program will host its second annual golf tournament fundraiser at Gilroy Golf Course on Friday, March 25.

Registration is at 11:30am, with a shotgun start set for 1pm.

Cost is $80, which includes greens fees, cart, beverages, tee prizes, contest prizes and dinner. Tee and hole sponsors are welcome.

MH Swim Club tryouts

The Morgan Hill Swim Club has begun its 44th straight year of representing the Morgan Hill community in USA Swimming. Tryouts for the team are open to anyone ages 6-18 are held at the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center every Monday through Friday at 5pm.

Monthly dues begin at no more than $75, with sibling and year-round discount programs offered. The team was awarded national status for the second straight year as a bronze level club by USA Swimming, and has been named as the host team for the 2005 Far Western Championships to be held in Morgan Hill from March 31 through April 3.

MH’s USYVL signups

Registration is now being accepted for the United States Youth Volleyball League’s Spring season in Morgan Hill. The USYVL is an instructional volleyball league that operates in a co-ed format for boys and girls ages 8-14. The USYVL season runs for eight weeks at Paradise Park and Galvan Park, beginning in April and ending in June.

Taylor Made Baseball camps continue

Taylor Made Baseball Pitching Mini-Camps begin once a month through May and run for four consecutive weeks.

Camps are taught by Rich Taylor. Cost is $99 per camp which includes a DVD and a pitching book ( while supply lasts). Each class is one hour (four total hours). Player to coach ratio is 4:1. The camps will be held indoors in Morgan Hill. Each player is filmed and receives a DVD. Focus is on developing proper throwing and pitching mechanics.

Camps are held on Thursday evenings. Payment is due prior to camp.
