NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, formerly of the 49ers and Raiders, will be the featured guest at a special Cigars for Charity night at the Morgan Hill Tobacco Company on Sunday from 6-8pm at 17430 Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill. The two-hour event is a fundraising kickoff for a golf tourney that raises money for Lott’s charity, All Stars Helping Kids. A tax-deductible $150 donation will include Camacho cigars, a chance to win numerous autographed items and your choice of wine or beer. A professional photographer will be on hand to take and print photos. Seating is limited to the first 50 people.

Gavilan baseball to host golf tourney, alumni game
On Friday, Oct. 8, the Gavilan College Baseball program will feature a Golf Tournament fundraiser at the Gilroy Golf Course. The tourney will include a noon shotgun start. All alumni, players and supporters are invited to sign up for the event. All proceeds benefit the Rams baseball program.
The following day, on Saturday, Oct. 9, the Gavilan baseball program will host an Alumni Baseball Game set for the “Home of the Rams,” the Gavilan College baseball field. The game is scheduled for a noon first pitch and Gavilan baseball coach Neal Andrade said longtime Coach Bob Nickerson’s jersey will be retired at the game. All former Gavilan baseball players are invited to play, and all program backers are encouraged to attend.

MH Aquatics Center programs
This fall, the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center will hold afternoon swim lessons Monday-Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Each session includes eight lessons. Fees are $54 for residents and $64 for non-residents. Recreation swimming will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 4-7pm, and Saturdays and Sundays noon-6pm. The last weekday for rec swim will be Friday, Sept. 24. Lap swimming will be offered Monday-Friday 5:30-9:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm and 4-7:30pm, and on Saturday and Sunday 7-10am. There will also be Water Aerobics classes offered, as well as Aquatots, Teen Howl, Dive-in Movie (“Goonies” on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 8pm) and Food, Family and Fun (Friday, Sept. 24 at 6-9pm) special events. Food, Fun, and Family will include a barbecue for the entire family. Admission is $12 youth and adult, $9 child (age 9 and under), and includes hamburger or hotdog, fries, salad, and a small soda. For the Dive In Movie, the doors open at 7:30pm, the movie starts at 8pm, and doors close at 10pm. Become a Jr. Ranger
Coyote Lake County Park is starting a free Jr. Ranger program for 9-11 year olds. In six sessions, children will learn about the roles of the ranger, the plants and animals in the park, and the Ohlone people. The program will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 22 to Nov. 3 from 3:30-5:30pm, except Oct. 6. You must be able to attend at least four of the six programs.
