Gavilan Niners hold August Ace Day

The Gavilan Niners held their August Ace Day on August 27th, 2004 at the Gavilan Golf Course. Ace for August was Marlene Sherwin, Morgan Hill, net 31, which was also good for first in the first flight. Second was Ann Maloney, Gilroy, net 32. First in the second flight was Jane Unland, net 33, and second was Betty Post, Morgan Hill net 34. Low putts went to Arlene Cardoza, Watsonville, with 12.

Winners at short course held on August 13th at Rancho de Pueblo were Phyllis Dollar, Morgan Hill, who was low net for the whole field with a net of 23, and Joan Webenbauer, Morgan Hill, who was first in her flight.

The Gavilan Niners play each Thursday morning at the Gavilan Golf Course in Gilroy. Tee time is 8:30am.

MH gymnastics set for 2004-05 season

The Morgan Hill Gymnastics competitive girl’s team is getting ready to start the 2004/2005 season.

Team members include:

Level 4; Caroline Seifert (8), Pooja Chirala (9), Caitie Shannon (9), and Rachel Hart (8). With the exception of Caroline Seifert, who competed at Level 4 last year, the girls will be competing for the first time.

Level 5; Jordan Fedalizo (9), Jaime Webb (10), Alex Saquella (11), Megan Nebesnick (9), Melina Sagor (11), Amanda Suniga (11), Jaclyn Dixon (13), and Emelie Hertz (11). Veteran Level 5 gymnasts are Melina Sagor (second year) and Amanda Suniga (third year after an injury-plagued summer kept her from going Level 6).

The girls will compete at the first meet of the season on Sept. 19 in Salinas.

T-ball registration

Mt. Madonna YMCA in Morgan Hill has announced T-Ball registration for children aged 2-8 has begun. Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 10. T-ball season begins Sept. 25 and runs through Nov. 13. All games are played at the Community Park on Edmundson. The fee for YMCA members is from $45-$75 for the season per child for T-Ball. YMCA membership is open to the public. Family and single adult membership offers access to all other six branch facilities operated by the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley. Financial assistance is made available to those in need.

LO High boosters golf tourney fundraiser

For the second year, the Live Oak High Athletic Booster Club is hosting a fundraiser golf tournament.

This year’s event, which helps fund LOHS sports programs, will be held Sept. 18 at Coyote Creek Golf Course. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch from noon to 12:45 p.m., and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The tourney will include a scramble format and is limited to 144 golfers.

There will be a no-host reception at 6 p.m. after the tourney and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $195 per person, which includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. Dinner only is $40.

The tourney is also still in need of sponsors.

Sobrato High boosters Open House

Join the growing group of parents and future parents of Sobrato High athletes at the Athletic Boosters’ Open House and fundraiser with pizza from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Regular meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month.
