Counseling services are available for students and staff of the Morgan Hill Charter School, following a student’s suicide.

About 5:20 p.m. yesterday Morgan Hill police responded to the residence of the family of a Charter School student. The male eighth-grade student was found dead in the home, and police determined he died by suicide, according to city councilman Larry Carr, whose two children attend the Charter School and who coaches basketball and volunteers for various activities at the school.

Charter School staff were informed of the incident Thursday night, Carr said. The middle-school students were assembled and told about the student’s death this morning.

Morgan Hill Unified School District provided staff and counselors to the Charter School campus, where they remained Friday to help students and teachers.
