February is a big month for the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. First, its annual Showcase Awards Dinner, on Feb. 22, rewards citizens for community involvement in six areas. And then, by Feb. 28 the chamber staff will have moved into new offices smack in the center of downtown.

After March 1, and after a two-year search, the chamber will be found at 17450 Monterey Road, between the Music Tree and the Granada Theater. The space was formerly occupied by Belle Cose.

“We will have far more room,” said Mitch Mariani, the chamber’s coordinator of events. He said he was looking forward to having enough room. At their present address on West First Street, Mariani said they actually have to move out in order to allow others to use the conference room.

“Part of our expansion will include a Morgan Hill Visitors and Business Center to better serve the community,” said Sunday Minnich, chamber executive director.

To help with relocation and program expansion costs, Minnich said, diners at the Showcase Dinner will be able to bid on silent auction items.

Minnich is seeking the donation of appropriate items or services – creativity is encouraged but not required. Nor will monetary donations be rejected.

All donors will be recognized at the dinner, in the program and at the Grand Opening celebration in April. Since the chamber is a non-profit business organization, any donation is tax deductible.

Minnich asks that anyone interested in making an auction or monetary donation, to E-mail or call her as soon as possible with the estimated value.

“We look forward to your possible participation and assistance in making this event a huge success and hope to hear from you soon,” Minnich said.
