Dear Editor,

The Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors has voted unanimously to support Measures A and B, the “Save Our Libraries” measures.

The Morgan Hill Chamber believes it makes good business sense to support our community’s library system. A responsive, strong and viable library system, which is accessible to our community’s citizens when it is needed, is important for all of us.

Measure A will continue the current $33.66 yearly assessment to maintain current library services. If the assessment is not renewed and expires in June, the Morgan Hill Library will face additional closures and service reductions through the loss of 20 percent of its funding.

Measure B will increase the library assessment by $1 per month to provide funds to restore library hours and services that were recently cut.

Both of these measures will be considered by voters in an upcoming special mail-in ballot election.

All registered voters will be mailed a ballot on April 4 that must be returned and received no later than May 3.

Every dollar that taxpayers in our community pay will be returned for the operation of the Morgan Hill Library.

2005 Chamber board of directors
