Dear Editor,
On behalf of the city of Morgan Hill and the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley, I want to thank the Morgan Hill community for participating in the Centennial Recreation Center’s grand opening celebration Oct. 28. More than 2,000 people enjoyed the community resource fair, wildlife trail opening (and unveiling of the bronze sculpture, “Liberty”), family activities, senior center programs, and community performances. The day ended on a high note with a black light, teen dance in the gymnasium.
This event could not have been possible without the generous donations and efforts from many community partners, including: Bath and Body Works, Bicycles and Trails Advisory Committee, Business and Housing Services Department, Cinelux , Coca Cola, Community and senior resource fair groups , Cybex, Golden Oak, In-N-Out Burger, Jamba Juice, Mainstreet Bagels, Morgan Hill Police Officer’s Association , Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Parks and Recreation Commission, Police Department, Public Works Department, Robeks, Santa Clara County Firefighter’s Association, Specialized, Starbuck’s, Start Trac and Youth Advisory Committee.
The Centennial Recreation Center was built to promote multi-generational interaction and advance the physical well-being of the community. The city is proud of its effort to expand recreation and leisure service levels for its residents and business community and is confident that the grand opening is the first step in enhancing Morgan Hill’s quality of life by providing opportunities to play, socialize, and participate in a variety of healthy activities.
Once again, thank you Morgan Hill!
Steve Rymer,
Morgan Hill’s director of recreation and community services
