A car slammed into an 18-wheel tanker truck Monday morning, sending the Ford Mustang’s driver to the hospital with injuries.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. in northern San Benito County at the intersection of Fairview and Orchard roads, just southeast of Highway 156. The truck was turning left off Orchard Road when it was struck by a black Mustang, smashing the front end of the car.

Responders stabilized the victim, who suffered lacerations to her face, before she was taken by ambulance to the Hollister Municipal Airport with plans to have her airlifted out of county.

The driver of the truck, with a business called CRT out of Hollister, was uninjured in the accident.

Other details were not immediately available.
