So here we are, at the end of May. Does anybody remember last August? I don’t know what happened, but even with two and a half weeks left of the 2005-06 school year, there are still activites floating around Live Oak.
Last Thursday, we had the luncheon for the student-faculty secret pals. Each member of the Associated Student Body class had a faculty member or two they had contact with all year, sending them cards and gifts. Thursday was the day to reveal ourselves to the faculty who had no clue as to who sent them their mystery gifts all year. Pizza and drinks were provided for the faculty and students to eat and time was given to socialize and talk about the year.
On Friday, Live Oak held its annual blood drive, supported by the Medical School of Stanford University. Held in the gym, there was a terrific turnout of willing donors. Every donor had an escort if they didn’t feel well and there was a 15-minute hang-out table to eat snacks and recharge.
This week at Live Oak continues with the senior activities with Senior Spirit week. Tuesday is Hawaiian/Under the Sea day. Wednesday is college t-shirt day. Thursday is Senior Royalty day (seniors wear crowns and sashes). And Friday is Senior Spirit day. The last week of school will be crazy for seniors with check out and final activities and busy for underclassmen with finals (seniors have finals the week before).
This week also marks the end of the high school ASB road for ASB seniors. Tuesday night we will have our annual banquet to pass the baton to the next wave of leaders. It is always a fun and emotional night for all, but definitely looked forward to each year. Seniors will read their wills to the person taking their position next year and a slide show of our ASB events will be shown as well.
Well, this is my last article as an Acorn of Live Oak and of Morgan Hill. Keep an eye out for the next few wrap-up articles for this year and look for the new writers in September. Come see us Acorns in our caps and gowns on Friday, June 16, 5pm at good ‘ol Richert Field. So long and farewell!
