Free needlework exhibit and demo
– The Gavilan Hills Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America will exhibit their work and demonstrate a variety of needlework techniques from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Main Ave. There will be craft kits and mentors available to help people of all ages try the art and craft of embroidery.

Bow Wow Luau helps save pets
– Morgan Hill’s Air For Paws nonprofit group will hold its second annual Bow Wow Luau Golf Benefit Tournament at the Gilroy Golf Course on Aug. 26. Activities include golf, games, refreshments and a barbecue. Proceeds from the event support fire and rescue personnel with specially-designed animal resuscitation kits that can save pets’ lives.

Native gardening program at MH Library
– Learn how to start or expand your native plant garden at 2 p.m. on Aug. 27, at the Morgan Hill Library. “How to Garden with Nature in Mind for 12 Months of Color” will be presented by Alrie Middlebrook, owner of Middlebrook Gardens in San Jose, an award-winning design firm specializing in California native gardening and sustainable landscaping. The free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Get involved at the volunteer MH Faire
– Help create a better community by serving one another. Volunteers in the Morgan Hill area are needed to help public safety groups, assist in community events, family and nonprofit health organizations and more. Italian Harvest Festa and car show
– The Italian Harvest Festa will feature live music and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 at Uesugi Farms, 14485 Monterey Road. Dance to music by Tarantella, enjoy Italian Opera or play Bocce Ball. Browse vehicles in the all Italian car and truck show Sept. 10 and the motorcycle show Sept. 11. Parking is $5. Admission is free.
