Learn native plant gardening
– Learn how to start or expand your native plant garden at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Morgan Hill Library. “How to Garden with Nature in Mind for 12 Months of Color” will be presented by Alrie Middlebrook, owner of Middlebrook Gardens in San Jose, an award-winning design firm specializing in California native gardening and sustainable landscaping. The free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

It’s girls night out
– In addition to making new friends, dancing and creating crafts, girls 7 to 12 can learn about life skills and values, positive relationships, and respecting themselves and others.
One of the 41 Developmental Assets will be covered at each session. This is a drop-off program that takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Centennial Recreation Center, 171 W. Edmundson Ave. The cost is $5.

– The latest and greatest movies out on DVD are coming to the teen center. Grab a bowl of popcorn and settle in for a night at the movies from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 2, at the Centennial Recreation Center, 171 W. Edmundson Ave. The free movie is for those 12 to 18.

Tour Gilroy Hot Springs
– Explore Gilroy Hot Springs, a historic landmark that was once a restful resort and later served as a readjustment location for Japanese families coming out of the WWII internment camps. A guide will walk visitors around the site, which is normally closed to the public and share the stories, beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 3. Meet at Hot Springs entrance. A parking fee applies.

– Space is limited, so make your reservation today! It’s from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4. The $25 price includes: Wine from local wineries including Satori Cellars and Ozeki Saki; menu prepared by Executive Chef Shannon O’Dell – using all local veggies, fruits, and meats; food demonstration; local farms include LBJ Farms, George Chiala Farms and Swank Farms.
