Lawyer Joins Hospice of the Valley’s Board of Directors
San Jose – Hospice of the Valley, a leader in advancing end-of-life care and a pioneer in palliative, hospice and community grief education in Santa Clara County, has appointed attorney Roberta S. Hayashi as a member of its Board of Directors.
Hayashi, who specializes in employment law and litigation with the firm Berliner Cohen, has more than 20 years of experience representing and advising Silicon Valley employers in employment and business litigation. Additionally, Hayashi has trial experience in wrongful termination, discrimination, and misappropriation of trade secrets and proprietary information actions in both state and federal court.
In June 2003, Hayashi was named one of the top 50 women litigators in California by the Daily Journal. Most recently, Hayashi was appointed to serve on the Santa Clara County Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and Bench/Bar/Media/Police Committee and just completed a three-year term as a lawyer representative to the Ninth Circuit Conference. She is a frequent speaker at employment law seminars and other continuing legal education programs on trial practice and legal ethics.
Hayashi has a long record of service to local non-profit organizations, having served as a past president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association and the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, and a board member of the San Jose Sports Authority and San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.
Hayashi is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of the UC Davis Law Review, and of Stanford University, Phi Beta Kappa.Â
