Sobrato fell 4-3 Tuesday in the first Santa Teresa Division
match for both tennis teams
MORGAN HILL — The Sobrato Lady Bulldogs received wins from Alexa Watanabe and two doubles pairs Tuesday but were one victory short of beating Independence.
The 76ers held on to win 4-3 at Sobrato High School in the Santa Teresa Division opener for both tennis teams. Independence took three of the four singles games, getting wins from Deanna Pham, Wendy Greene and Han Nguyen, and clinched it with a victory by Jessica Phu and Vivian To in the No. 1 doubles match.
Watanabe defeated Cindy Do 6-2, 6-2 in the top singles game. Alyssa Warren and Allison Bettencourt beat the 76ers’ Toni Alexander and Stephanie Chan 7-5, 6-1, and Alicia Warren and Nemerta Cherra downed Jessica Su and Tvonne Nguyen 6-2, 6-1 to round out Sobrato’s winners.
