In the first win on Saturday, Morgan Hill narrowly defeated Seaside 2-1.

Michael LernMon singled in the second inning, and the next batter John Forestieri doubled him home, giving Morgan Hill A a 1-0 advantage.

Seaside scored in the fouth inning on a throwing error, tying the game 1-1.

After a lead off single in the seventh inning Chase Chadband moved up and scored on a past ball with two outs, breaking the tie and giving Morgan Hill the win.

Morgan Hill’s second win came on Sunday as they shut out Watsonville 13 – 0. Three Morgan Hill pitchers, Chase Chadband, Jason Struzik and Michal LernMon combined for a one hit shutout of Watsonville. Morgan Hill made a run in the first inning and never looked back. Ben Hartl had three hits, Chase Chadband had two hits, and John Forestieri had two hits including a double.

Morgan Hill’s first loss came against SV Extreme. In a very tight game Morgan Hill gave SV Extreme, a year round travel team, all they could handle.

Ben Hartl led with two hits and two RBIs, and also pitched two innings of relief at the end to hold the Extreme scoreless. Trailing 8-3 in the 7th, Morgan Hill scored two runs and rallied to get the tying run to the plate, but could not cash in.

In their fourth game of the tournament Morgan Hill suffered a tough 19-9 loss to the Monterey Bay Pirates.

The Pirates scored 11 runs in the 1st inning creating a deficit that Morgan Hill could not overcome. The Pirates added four runs in the second inning and three in the fourth to put the game out of reach for Morgan Hill.

In the 5th and final game of the tournament Morgan Hill defeated Salinas 16-2. Vying for third place MH sent a message early on jumping Salinas for two runs in the first, and four in the second. Nelson Pyle and Ban Hartl were both 3-4, each scoring three runs. Sean Schlaefli and Andrew Bueno each had two hits.

Tournament Highlights:

n Ben Hartl hit .625 for the tournament with 10 hits, eight RBI’s, and nine scored runs. He also pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing only two earned runs and striking out nine.

n Chase Chadband, 2-0 pitching, ERA of 1.17 and struck out 11. Hit .429 with 6 hits and 4 RBIs. No hit Watsonville through three innings. Striking out 7.

n Michael LemMon hit .438 with 7 hits, 2 RBIs and a double.

n John Forestieri had 3 doubles and triple with 4 RBIs.
