Thirty-five students from Britton Middle School need the community’s help in order for them to have the opportunity to embark on their club’s Hawaiian Volcano Expedition.
The Volcano Kids of Morgan Hill, who are looking to raise as much as they can of the $2,300 per student price tag for their special excursion, will have a silent auction fundraiser from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 at Sinaloa Cafe (17535 Monterey St.) in downtown Morgan Hill.
Silent auction items include Ladera Grill gift certificates, an autographed poster by Colin Kaepernick, a Oakland Athletics World Series Jacket, Los Angeles Dodgers jacket, tickets to a San Jose Sharks game and tickets to the San Francisco Exploratorium. Other silent auction items come via Cross Fit Gym, Clos LaChance Winery, Target, Sheri’s Art Studio, Gilroy Bowl, Specialized Bicycle, Fortino Winery, Great America and Havana Cub Restaurant in San Jose.
There will also be drawing items available, including merchandise and gift certificates from Sharks Ice, Rosey’s On The Beach, Thinker Toys, Pinocchio Pizza, The Exploratorium, Betsy’s Restaurant and AMC Theater.
If all goes well, the 35 students accompanied by science teacher George Flores, other Britton staff and parents will fly to the Big Island of Hawaii and begin their scientific exploration.
