Thieves steal from Goodwill
A witness reported seeing three people steal items from a Goodwill truck parked in front of Safeway grocery store at 840 East Dunne Ave. The suspects, described as two heavy set females and one male, took several bags of items and fled in a silver mini-van. The crime was reported at 6:29 p.m. Monday.
Teen arrested for attempted shoplifting
Police arrested an 18-year-old female for allegedly attempting to steal electronic products from Wal-Mart at 170 Cochrane Plaza.
Danielle Castagne was arrested when employees at the store caught her trying to leave with iPod protector sheets and two portable memory cards, police said. The value of the items was about $120.
The crime was reported about 2:15 p.m. Jan. 29.
Castagne tried to run away from the scene after employees tried to detain her in the store’s office. Police caught up with her in the parking lot outside the shopping center. She was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of petty theft.
Grand theft reported at MH residence
A resident of Barrett Avenue reported a generator and five drills stolen from his open garage. The crime occurred between late afternoon Jan. 29 and afternoon Jan. 31.
Man breaks into apartment complex, flees on motorcycle
An unknown man fled on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he was confronted in the process of burglarizing the front office at Monte Vista Apartments, police said.
An employee of the apartment complex at 16945 Del Monte Ave. opened the office about 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and saw a heavy-set man wearing a dark blue shirt, black tennis shoes and a motorcycle helmet rummaging through the pool room.
The man pushed his way past the employee and ran outside. He jumped over a fence and allegedly hopped onto a black and red Harley-Davidson motorcycle and fled the scene.
Police later found out the man forced his way into the office, possibly with a pry tool, but did not take anything.
