Senior fireballer Juliette Bowers appears to be ready for her
final high school season. Just ask Branham. On Thursday, Bowers
fired a one-hitter at the visitors to lead the Live Oak High
softball team to a 1-0 victory in its season opener at Community
Park. Bowers took a no-hitter into the seventh, and final, inning
before Branham broke through. LO (1-0) tallied its lone run in the
fifth on an RBI single from Sarah Locarnini that scored Teresa
Jacob. The Acorns had a total of six hits in the game.

Meanwhile, the LO baseball team fell to Santa Clara 2-1 in the consolation bracket of the Wilcox Tournament on Tuesday. The Acorns took a 1-0 lead on an error in the first, but Santa Clara scored twice in the third to take a lead it would not relinquish. LO was rained out on yesterday and will play a rescheduled game against Lynbrook at noon today at Wilcox High.

Meanwhile, the LO boys volleyball team was forced to scrimmage Westmont when no officials showed up for the Acorns’ scheduled home non-league match on Wednesday.
