Norma Howe – author of the popular Blue Avenger series for teens – will be appearing at the Morgan Hill Library (on the corner of Peak Avenue and Main Avenue at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20.

In an informal setting, Howe will relate her remarkable story of growing up in a working class San Jose neighborhood, becoming a wife and mother, writing articles for true confession magazines, and finally (after her youngest of her six children received his driver’s license) embarking on her career as an award-winning author of books for teens.

Teens in grades 7-10 will thoroughly enjoy hearing her story and exploring the enduring themes and accessible, light-hearted style of her novels.

In the Blue Avenger series – which includes Blue Avenger and the Theory of Everything (2002), Blue Avenger Cracks the Code (2000), and The Adventures of Blue Avenger (1999)-Howe deals with such topics as free will, determinism, gun control, the mystery of Shakespearean authorship and the search for the perfect lemon meringue pie.

In her earlier novels – Shoot for the Moon (1992); The Game of Life (1989); In with the Out Crowd (1986); and God, the Universe and Hot Fudge Sundaes (1984) – Howe takes on such topics creationism, faith and peer pressure.
