The Santa Clara County Public Health Department announced March 20 that two more people have died of COVID-19, bringing the total deaths to eight in this county.

And while local school district officials had a brief coronavirus scare when it was learned that an employee at a school dance venue last weekend had been exposed to the virus, there are no plans to close any campuses in Morgan Hill.

Santa Clara County public health officials on Monday, March 9 announced a mandatory three-week ban on any gathering of 1,000 or more people, beginning at noon Wednesday, March 11 in response to an accelerating number of COVID-19 cases in the county and across the state.

The number of reported cases of county and national COVID-19 continued to grow on a daily basis this week, as the Santa Clara County Public Health Department confirmed two new cases on March 2, bringing the total number of county cases to nine.
