Live Oak High Emerald Regime Marching Band placed first in the Class A category on Saturday in the Western Band Association’s Gilroy competition.
Class A bands have less than 60 musicians. The band went from being a Class AA, more than 60 students to the Class A category this year due to a slump in the music program.
“They did really well, they’re off to a great start,” Director Greg Bergantz said Monday. The band won best music, best visual, best auxiliary (color guard) and best general effect awards.
