The under-11 South Valley Storm finished 8-0 and in first place at the June 20-26 Omaha Champions Village Tournament, beating teams from Texas, Colorado, Utah, Missouri and Minnesota.

The Storm came ready to play, outscoring its opponents 40-6.

Nolan Cisewski led South Valley with a .714 batting average for the tournament. Teammate Lucas Schmidt hit four home runs, and Mikey Yanaguma homered as well for the Storm. Schmidt hit a game-winning two-run homer against the KC Huskers–Missouri, sending South Valley to the semifinals.

Nathan Medrano anchored the Storm pitching staff, while Schmidt, DJ Washington and PJ Rochon helped in the rotation as well.

The only trouble the locals ran into was in the championship game against the TCT Grinders–Texas. The Storm led 5-1 after four innings, but the Grinders nearly turned the tables in the fifth with a three-run home run. The Storm held firm, however, to secure a 5-4 victory and the tournament title.
