Dante Bellistri pitched a six-inning two-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored to lead the Morgan Hill Mustangs 9-and-under baseball team to a 4-1 win over Gap 2 Gap Baseball in the U.S. Specialty Sports Association TPR State Qualifier title game April 21.
Will Gnibus doubled and drove in two runs for the Mustangs, and Matthew Miller singled and scored a run.
The game and two-day tournament ended on a diving catch by Mustangs left fielder Mark Spohn.
Bellistri went 8-for-10 with three doubles, a triple, six runs scored and eight stolen bases in the tournament. Gnibus had six RBIs in the tournament, and Race Thompson added four RBIs.
Bellistri pitched eight innings in the tournament, allowing only two earned runs. Teammate Shane Callison threw five scoreless innings in the tournament.
