In order to take advantage of Morgan Hill’s expansion, Bank of America has opened a new branch in the north end of town.

Taking the helm will be Tuan Dinh, a San Francisco State graduate who currently works at the Bank of America on Blossom Hill in San Jose.

“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to serve the Morgan Hill community,” Dinh said. “We are hoping to continue to expand in the south valley area. We hope to expand into Gilroy and more in Morgan Hill. It’s a great opportunity in south area. We are very excited about it.”

Bill Coyne, the Vineyard Avenue branch manager says he welcomes the new facility and has been working with Dinh to get him aquatinted with the area.

“I’ve been working with him for the past month, getting him oriented with the community, it’s leaders and the chamber of commerce,” Coyne said. “He’s managing at the Bank of America in the San Jose area, so this is a promotion for him.”

Dinh says that he is excited about his move to Morgan Hill. He lives in south San Jose so he will have one of the easiest commutes to and from work.

“I live 15 minutes away and it will be real easy to get to work,” Dinh said. “This is a good community. It will be a great opportunity to serve the community.”

Dinh has extensive background in the banking and managing world.

He has worked as a sales manager for Sprint, was a branch manager for Wells Fargo and worked for Household Financing in Chicago.

The new facility will be set up to handle everything that the current Morgan Hill facility handles.

“We don’t anticipate that those who bank here will be going to the North Morgan Hill office,” Coyne said. “The new facility will be there to forge new relationships.”

While the grand opening will not be until Monday, the new branch has already opened its doors to the public.

The ATMs went on line Friday, Dec. 5 and the bank opened Wednesday.

All the personnel have been hired and out of the 12 who will work there, eight are from Morgan Hill.

“Some of them are still in the training process,” Dinh said. “Most have already worked for Bank of America, the rest are new.”

For now, 12 employees will suit the facility fine, according to Dinh; however, if the need arises, more could be brought in.

“For a new launch base, we staff it with the most that is necessary,” Dinh said. “That is typical. We will grow as needed.”

The public is welcome to the grand opening, that will run from 5-7 p.m.; food will be provided.

The facility is located at 200 Cochrane Plaza, next to Ya Bon and across from Target.

“We have been giving flyers to the businesses in the area for the grand opening,” Dinh said. “We are trying to create as much awareness as we can.”
