Dear Editor,

Another fabulous endeavor by members of the community resulted in a day of frolic and fun at the Morgan Hill Community & Cultural Center on Saturday, May 14.

The sixth annual Art ala Carte and Children’s Safety Fair, with a theme of “Wild About Art in the Jungle,” attracted nearly 1500 young people and their families. There were 14 different art stations, eight different information booths, entertainment in the amphitheater provided by “Quimbanda” and “Sweet Harmony and a bicycle rodeo all sponsored through a collaborative effort by the City of Morgan Hill Recreation & Community Services Division, the Police Dept. and FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County.

The event was made possible by several community groups and businesses that deserve a BIG thank you for volunteering to work at the art stations and for donating money and supplies to the free event. The many contributors were the Morgan Hill Rotary Club, Go Kids, A Children’s Garden, Crossroads Christian School, Extreme Learning Center, Nordstrom School Child Care Center, P.A. Walsh Child Care Center, Dr. Wafelbakker, Johnson Lumber Ace Hardware, Marie Calendars, Coyote Valley Sporting Clays, Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center, Antoine Faris, Glen Rock Builders, Booksmart, Thinker Toys, Morgan Hill Aquatics Center, Doug Kalpakoff, Nob Hill Foods, The Bicycle & Trails Advisory Committee, The Youth Advisory Committee, Steve Tate, and The City of Morgan Hill.

I would also like to thank the committee members who spent months planning the event. They are Nancy Domnauer, Isela Banuelos, Mindy Bostick, Terri Cascio, Phyllis Dieter, Lorena Dominguez, Carl McCann, Laura Brunton, Debbie Whittenberg, Chiquy Schoenduve, Rodney Reno, Matt Patrizio, April Worley, Julie Souders, Shannon Vinecke, Karen Lengsfield, Aja Ochoa, Charles Miller, Shelly Yowell, Carlos Munoz, and Angela Moore. Morgan Hill is a great place to live and play because of all of you!
