Do you think it is reasonable to believe that nuclear weapons
can be eliminated in the next generation?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:

“Do you think it is reasonable to believe that nuclear weapons can be

eliminated in the next generation?” Yes: 4 No: 6

? Karen Anderson: “Not a chance. I think they will proliferate and be increasingly difficult to control.”

? Bert Berson: “Yes. Because we will find more efficient means of killing people.”

? Chris Bryant: “No, some country leaders will always feel the need to hold the means for mass destruction as a method to feel significant in a global political environment instead of building economic importance.”

? David Cohen: “No. People have been talking about banning nuclear weapons for generations. As long as there are countries and disaffected groups in the world, a total ban is but a dream.”

? Dennis Kennedy: “No! But we must try and reduce their proliferation!”

? Julian Mancias: “Yes. A big part of that equation will involve world leaders who believe that dismantling nuclear weapons is mandatory for saving our planet.”

? Linda McNulty: “I think it is reasonable to believe elimination can occur but it is concerning when unethical opportunist are selling them underground to terrorist organizations.”

? Lisa Pampuch: “No. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle. The only way they’ll become obsolete is if humans make themselves extinct with nuclear weapons, global warming, or the like.”

? John Quick: “They are obsolete, rather like the large SUV I drive, just not yet out of service. I believe a 10-year time frame is too short to accomplish what President Obama would like; but what he is doing is definitely the correct first step. International accord on this will come slowly.”

? Emily Shem-Tov: “No, unfortunately they will continue to pose a threat and a problem.”
