Will Republican Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts kill
health care reform?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:

“Will Republican Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts kill health care reform?

” Yes: 3 No: 6

? Karen Anderson: “Maybe. If it is not moribund, it will certainly be changed.”

? Dave Appling: “Kill health care reform, no. Kill the current bill, yes. Actually I think that bill ‘jumped the shark’ with Sen. Reed’s desperate purchase of Sen. Nelson’s vote. Outrageous.”

? Bert Berson: “Yes. It is watered down now. ‘Après Brown le deluge’.

? David Cohen: “Yes in its current form. But we should all remember that Brown voted FOR a very similar plan now in effect in Massachusetts, when he was a state senator.”

? Linda McNulty: “I don’t believe it will KILL health reform but it will certainly create a more bipartisan reform. Since Democrats outnumber Republican’s 3-1 in Massachusetts I think it sends a strong message against having a filibuster-proof majority in Washington.”

? Henry Miller: “Unfortunately, it may not kill it, but it certainly seems like it has mortally wounded it. So, we will remain the only developed country that lacks practical universal health care and the one that will continue paying more per person than any other. Maybe someday the Washington elite will get the message. But don’t bet your benefits on it.”

? Lisa Pampuch: “It shouldn’t. Democrats still have 58 seats in the Senate, easily a majority, plus a reliable vote from Bernie Sanders (I-VT).”

? Jeff Smith: “Fortunately Brown was elected, and yes, hopefully it will kill current efforts at health care reform. Our health care system does need reform, but not the bloated and corrupt way Washington is trying to do it.”

? Steve Staloch: “No, but proposals on the table today have effectively been taken off life support as a result of the election.”
