Water lovers looking for temporary or seasonal jobs are invited to visit a hiring fair Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Live Oak High School, sponsored by the Morgan Hill Recreation and Community Services Department.
Job openings are available for lifeguards, recreation leaders, swimming instructors, cashiers, custodial, head lifeguards, lead instructors and more. People interested in water-based jobs will be required to do a swimming test as part of this process. Those job seekers should come prepared to change and swim.
Recreation officials will accept applications, do interviews and in some cases offer jobs on the spot. Free training is available for those who do not have certifications.
The purpose of the hiring fair, according to Aaron Himelson, recreation supervisor for aquatics, is to hire great team members to work fun summer jobs. Himelson said that, while he hopes lots of students will want to work, there are also plenty of opportunities for active retirees, parents with kindergarteners who want a change of scenery for a few hours or residents who want a part time job.
The center, due to open June 12 (with a ‘soft opening’ on Memorial Day), is located on Condit Road, just between Tennant and Barrett avenues, east of U.S. 101. Some new employees will also work at the Community and Cultural Center, downtown at 17000 Monterey Road.
Applicants will find the hiring fair near the swimming pool on the Live Oak High School campus, 1505 E. Main Ave. Details: www.morgan-hill.ca.gov or 782-0008.
